SWITCHED ON SOLICITORS...
We look for practical solutions to your legal issues. Our 'switched on' solicitors provide a fresh approach to legal problems.
Pamela S Horobin, LLB, TEP (Partner)
Since qualifying as a solicitor in London, Pamela Horobin has specialised in advice on wills, inheritance tax planning and the administration of estates and trusts. She advises on issues relevant to elderly clients including residential care funding. Pamela has considerable experience in advising on matters of contested wills and claims against estates and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, a qualification which is given to practitioners who are recognised as having an expertise in these areas of work.
Anthony G Smith, LLB (Partner)
Anthony Smith is a specialist commercial lawyer with over 20 years experience. After qualifying in Sheffield, Anthony spent 15 years working as a commercial lawyer in Bristol, the last 11 years of which were as a partner in a city centre commercial practice. Anthony joined Progression in September 2005 and is the partner in charge of property and commercial services.
David Townend, BA Law (Associate)
Shortly after qualifying in London, David moved to the Lake District – primarily to pursue his love of rock-climbing – and joined a firm with offices in Ambleside and Windermere where he was a partner until 1988. He then left the law for nine years and worked for a number of companies involved in land development, the leisure industry and special needs education.
In 1997, David returned to practice, rejoining his old firm which by then had merged with other firms and grown in size. Since that time, David has been based in Kendal and has worked almost exclusively on commercial matters, undertaking business sales and purchases, commercial property transactions, and a considerable amount of landlord and tenant work. His particular interests are in the manufacturing and leisure/tourism sectors. He also has significant experience in site acquisitions and disposals, for both residential and commercial developments. David’s previous involvement in businesses outside the law has proved invaluable in gaining a real understanding of how his clients work, thus ensuring that they get relevant and practical advice from him.
Judith D Bell B.A. (Hons)
Judy qualified in 1981 and since that time has specialised in family law dealing with high profile cases, which saw her appear on News at Ten, along with radio interviews. She also acted in a ground-breaking pensions case in 1995, which paved the way for a change in the law and which lead to considerable media exposure.
Judy adopts a constructive, but sympathetic approach with the emphasis on speedy resolution. Notwithstanding the stress involved in such situations she is aware that clients need positive robust advice, often outside normal working hours and works hard to ensure that clients are supported in this way.
