The loss of a loved one can be a very distressing and stressful time. There are many issues to sort out when somebody dies and it can be an overwhelming experience. Our role is to deal with the taxation and legal issues in a calm and efficient way that minimizes stress and worry. We understand that administering an estate is not a commercial transaction and that a practical and sensitive approach is required. We also know that the costs may be a worry. We are happy to work out a fixed fee and to let you know what this is right at the outset.
We are very proactive in advising about inheritance tax and how the inheritance tax you pay on death can be minimized.
Trusts
A trust is a way of passing assets to the next generation without necessarily giving the beneficiaries a free hand with those assets until they reach an age at which they are mature enough to manage those assets. Property transferred into trusts may be shares in family companies, farms or commercial property.
In the 2006 Budget, sweeping changes were made to the taxation of trusts which in some cases makes them less favorable as tax-savings measures. However, they are still a valid tax planning tool for those who have significant assets. We have many years experience in creating and administering trusts.
