Claire Meehan, LLB(Hons) (Director)

Claire Joined Progression Solicitors in July 2020 and was promoted to Director in May 2022.  Claire qualified as a Solicitor in 2011 and is Head of the Residential Property Department.  Claire spent many years working on the Fylde Coast until making her move to South Lakeland in 2017 where she has established herself within the local area.

Claire specialises in residential sale, purchase and re-mortgage matters and brings a wealth of experience to the Progression property team.  Claire considers client satisfaction to be of the utmost importance to her, ensuring that the process is as efficient and smooth as possible throughout.

Barry Scott, LLB (Associate)

Barry Scott joined Progression’s commercial property team in July 2020. Barry has worked locally for a number of years, specialising in all aspects of commercial property including land acquisition, commercial purchases and sales and acting for landlords and tenants on new leases.

Simon Rose (Associate)

Simon Rose is a well-known local solicitor whose in both freehold and leasehold residential conveyancing.

Simon has spent the whole of his professional career in South Lakeland and has over 20 years’ expertise in the buying and selling of residential houses, dealing with boundary issues and all aspects of residential property work. Simon now oversees the training and compliance aspects of the residential property department, including meeting the CQS Conveyancing Quality Scheme standards promoted and trusted by the Law Society and mainstream mortgage lenders.

Warwick Alabaster (Director)

Warwick joined Progression Solicitors in October 2020 as head of the litigation and dispute resolution team. After obtaining an honours degree from Leicester University in 1994 he embarked upon his legal career, undergoing his conversion course and formal training in Leicester where he worked as a litigation solicitor until 2007.

Since 2007 Warwick has been based in the Lancashire area, working as a senior litigation solicitor advising clients on a wide range of issues including commercial, construction, professional negligence, insolvency, property and partnership disputes. Warwick also has experience in selective areas of dispute resolution including the sports disciplinary tribunal and intellectual property, and has been involved in Judicial Review relating to local authority planning permissions.

Warwick is based in Lancaster, advising all clients including businesses, local authorities and individuals across the Cumbria and Lancashire regions.

Rebecca Comber (Trainee Legal Executive)

Rebecca is a member of Resolution, a community of family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way.  Resolution members abide by a code of practice to support clients to resolve matters as constructively – and with as little conflict – as possible.


Rebecca joined Progression Solicitors in September 2020 as a Trainee Legal Executive. Rebecca deals with all aspects of private family law including divorce and financial proceedings, child arrangements and Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders.  Rebecca also deals with the drafting of Statutory Declarations and Change of Name Deeds.

Rebecca has worked in a legal environment for over 20 years, gaining a strong background in both family and personal injury law.  Rebecca is a member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and is currently undertaking the final academic stages of her training.

Judith O’Brien (Judith Wright), LLB(Hons) (Senior Associate)

Judith qualified as a solicitor in 1997, after working in the legal profession for 6 years prior to this as a paralegal. Judith is highly regarded by her clients, providing expertise in all aspects of family law including divorce & dissolution, separation, pre-nuptial agreements and children issues. Judith has a wealth of experience acting for clients of high net-worth, including business owners.


Judith joined Progression Solicitors in September 2020 to provide advice to clients in Lancashire and the surrounding areas.

David Townend, BA (Consultant)

Throughout his legal career, David has worked almost exclusively on commercial matters, undertaking business sales and purchases, commercial property transactions and a considerable amount of landlord and tenant work. David also has significant experience in site acquisitions and disposals, for both residential and commercial developments and has acted for national retailers for a significant number of years.

Legal Interests

David’s main interest lies in commercial property, particularly the retail sector where he has acted for many years on leases in shopping centres, retail parks and the wider high street.

David now works on a consultancy basis and can be contacted via the Windermere office.

Helen Lloyd, MA (Associate)

Helen Lloyd is an associate member of Progression Solicitors. Following her qualification in October 2018, Helen Lloyd worked with both the commercial and residential property teams on acquisitions and sales. After taking a short break from work to support her family, Helen is now based in the office in Grange-over-Sands to specialise in residential property matters including purchases, sales and remortgages of both leasehold and freehold property.

Kayleigh Rose, FCILEx (Chartered Legal Executive)

Kayleigh joined Progression in Autumn 2015 as an administrative assistant. Kayleigh holds a degree in Law (LL.B) and worked in business process services prior to joining the team.

Kayleigh deals with residential property including purchases and sales and has expertise in new-build properties. Kayleigh also undertakes first registrations of land and buildings and has experience in applications to register land with lost title deeds and possessory title applications

Kayleigh is a member of CILEx and qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in June 2022.

Hannah Booth (Senior Associate)

With 7+ years’ experience as a fee earner in the private client department Hannah Booth specialises in the administration of estates both non-taxable and taxable which are simple or more complex. Hannah’s experience includes probate applications for non-domiciled individuals holding foreign wills, estates requiring overseas grants, and estates with issues of insolvency or maladministration. Hannah provides advice on inheritance tax planning, drafting straightforward and complex wills, lasting powers of attorney, registrations of enduring powers of attorney, deputyship applications and assisting with contentious work. Hannah also has experience of land registrations, assents and conveyancing, as well as background knowledge in family law.

Hannah is a member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and is head of the Private Client Department at Progression Solicitors, ensuring smooth running of the department and overseeing management, training and compliance.

Legal Interests

Hannah has a particular interest in contested wills, contentious probate and estates that involve fraud, maladministration or insolvency.

Hannah is a Dementia Friend through the Alzheimer’s Society, recognising the importance of understanding clients’ needs where they or their family members are affected by cognitive difficulties. Hannah also plans to undertake her membership qualifications with STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) to strengthen her expertise in the private client sector.
