Richard Denby, LLB TEP (Director)

Richard Denby joined Progression Solicitors in June 2019 and promoted to director in June 2020, having worked locally since qualifying as a solicitor in 1993.

Richard has amassed a wealth of experience with most of those years spent as head of Wills, Probate and Trusts department. Richard Denby dealt almost exclusively with all aspects of wills, probate and estate administration, trusts, inheritance tax, powers of attorney, Court of Protection and trust and estate litigation, including seeking recovery of funds misappropriated, and professional negligence.

Richard is a full member of both STEP and Solicitors for the Elderly. Richard was particularly interested in Solicitors for the Elderly due to their campaigning on behalf of the older population to influence government policy on issues such as care fees and Powers of Attorney.

Legal Interests

Richard’s main interest is in acting for older clients, and clients preparing for their later years, having a knack for explaining complex issues in simple language, and helping to navigate issues such as care fees, bereavement and difficult family situations.

Richard Denby is based primarily at our Barrow-in-Furness and Ulverston offices.
